CRISIS LINES AND EMERGENCIES

If you find yourself or someone you know in a crisis here are some numbers to contact for help.

Lifeline 13 11 14

Lifeline’s 13 11 14 service is staffed by trained volunteer telephone counsellors who are ready to take calls 24-hour a day, any day of the week from anywhere in Australia. These volunteers operate from Lifeline Centres in every State and Territory around Australia. Lifeline answers around 450,000 calls per year from people needing emotional support.

SuicideLine 1300 651 251 

SuicideLine (VIC) is available throughout Victoria 24 hours a day, seven days a week, for the cost of a local call (mobiles extra). Interpreters can be arranged for non-English speaking callers.

SuicideLine (VIC) provides:

* suicide prevention - counselling & support
* crisis intervention;
* information for people concerned about suicidal risk in others;
* support for people bereaved by suicide; and
* facilitated referrals to services across Victoria.

The Women's Domestic Violence Crisis Service 1800 015 188
 

The Women's Domestic Violence Crisis Service is a 24-hour/7 days a week telephone service providing support, information and accommodation for women and children fleeing domestic violence.

Kids' Help Line 1800 55 1800 

Kids Help Line is Australia's only free, confidential and anonymous, 24-hour telephone and online counselling service specifically for young people aged between 5 and 25. Counsellors respond to more than 10,000 calls each week about issues ranging from relationship breakdown and bullying to sexual abuse, homelessness, suicidal thoughts, and drug and alcohol usage.

Centre Against Sexual Assult (CASA)  1800 806 292

A free confidential 24 hour emergency or crisis care service is available (call 1800 806 292) for victim/survivors who have recently been sexually assaulted. This includes crisis counselling support and may include access to medical care and legal processes.

Crisis Assessment and Treatment Team (CATT)

The Crisis Assessment and Treatment Team are responsible for assessing all persons who are being considered for hospital admission and determining whether or not a less restrictive setting is more suitable.

CAT services also provide treatment and support for people whose acute mental illness can be managed in the community as an alternative to hospitalisation.

These services operate from 8am - 10pm, 7 days a week.

CAT services also provide treatment and support for people whose acute mental illness can be managed in the community as an alternative to hospitalisation.

These services operate from 8am - 10pm, 7 days a week.
